Good comfort food and great service, but execution was hit-or-miss for the price After a day at the nearby water park, we were hungry for a solid meal. Visiting for dinner on a Tuesday meant zero wait time. When you walk in, you pass through a fun gift shop that also sells pies and other desserts to go. The menu offers classic, heavy comfort food like fried chicken, meatloaf, and BBQ. Meals come with hot rolls—which were delicious—and a choice of two out of three family-style sides (cinnamon apples, coleslaw, or cottage cheese), with an upcharge for the third. We chose the apples and coleslaw. Because of our party size, they brought out two bowls of each. It didn't make much sense why we couldn't swap one of the extra bowls for cottage cheese without an extra charge, but that’s what we were told. On the plus side, there was a great kids' menu that catered well to the children in our group. As for the main courses, the results were a mixed bag: Stuffed Pork Chop: Flavor was mostly good, but unfortunately, it was overcooked. The outside portion was excellent, but the center was too dry to finish. Pot Roast: A couple of people in our party ordered this and also found it dry, need

We traveled to the Machine Shed on Tuesday for lunch. First time for us both. You walk into the cutest store front (think Cracker Barrel) with a cute old red truck, shirts, kitchen stuff, a pie selection, etc. It is so cute. We were greeted & seated pretty quickly- the restaurant area was very drab compared to the entrance - I feel like opportunities are definitely missed to enhance the experience by some simple color & decor. Our waitress was super efficient however not 'friendly'. Food came out relatively fast. We had the turkey dinner & BBQ brisket sandwich- both were so good, absolutely no complaints with the food. The menu is definitely packed with comfort food & things you don't get often like fried chicken livers, liver & onions, etc. It's a long drive for us, but we'd definitely go back. I totally forgot to take food pictures, so sorry!!

Tonight we held my mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary party at the Rockford location. From start to finish Brooke was amazing. She was so helpful with any questions we had. I found her to be personable and very accommodating to the change of party size and booking especially as my dad is very ill which had the potential to not make the event pull through. She asked me if the lighting was ok, music in or off, gave us access to the tv for a video we created for my parents, moved tables for us, let me decorate the room to our needs, and stored my cupcakes for me. She checked in multiple times with us throughout our event and made sure we were well taken care of. She even made small talk with my parents which was huge for me. Our server made sure our drinks were full and our food was prepared exactly as ordered. The food was delicious and plenty of leftovers. Tonight was so special for our family and I am beyond happy with our experience here tonight. My mom and dad left stating this was a night they will never forget!

The bread rolls with homemade butter was delicious, but the banana or pumpkin bread they serve along with the bread rolls at the beginning of the meal are fantastic. Best that I've had. My husband's Hamburger was the absolute best he said, cooked to perfection. I had the Heartland Combo/ a 3 meat pork dinner each piece cooked different with green beans. Out of the 3 pork meats the smoked loin was my favorite. Green beans were top notch. Grandson had the chicken strip with frys and loved them also. The Cole slaw is better than any I've had anywhere else along with the smothered apples. Then to top that off my grandson loved the tractors and implements on the outside. This was our 2nd time to visit, and we're hard to please because we're from Louisiana and we know what good food is. Our grandson picked going here instead of going play at trampoline park. Top pick for a country kid.

Nice restaurant with country vibes, great customer service, great food at reasonable prices. We went to this place for the first time today and had the fish fry experience and it was great. Our server was so nice and friendly and she took great care of us. The food came soon without delays and it was fresh and hot just as it should be. We had grilled and fried cod fish and both were delicious and well seasoned. Our meal also came with pumpkin bread, new to us, and dinner rolls, coleslaw and fried apples to start, and fish dishes came with sweet potato fries and regular French fries and baby carrots. Good size portions and we repeated on the fried cod fish. We will definitely return next time we are in town.
